1- I had a vaginal infection, 8 months ago. This infection is now cured since 2 months but I do not understand why it is still painful when my partner is penetrated me? This problem is unfortunately frequent: when a woman experiences penetration pain almost at every sexual relation (dyspareunia), she will develop a fear of penetration avoiding her to get wet. Besides, this fear will lead to the contraction of the muscles surrounding the vagina and the result is pain at every sexual relation. Dyspareunia prevention, after medical cure for vaginal infection for example, is the interdiction of vaginal penetration before complete cure of the infection. 2- The first time I had sex, the penis of my partner could not get inside my vagina. He has to use lubricant. The day after, I was bleeding and I was in pain. Is it normal? I am scared of being in pain again the next time we will have sex. The first sexual relation is always a bit stressful, and this lead to a lack of lubrication and to a contraction of the muscles surrounding the vagina, which is a cause of pain. The first time is also painful because the hymen has to be torn and this often leads to some bleeding but not always, it depends on the form and the thickness of the hymen. I advise you to wait a week before a new sexual relation (tear healing) and to use again a lubricant because you might be again a bit stress and this will avoid pain during the penetration. I am convinced that when the stress will be gone you will not have to use lubricant anymore. 3- What can I do in case of pain during deep penetration? You need to see your gynecologist because several organic causes can be responsible for this pain (fibroma, ovary cyst, retroverted uterus etc..).
4- Can retroverted uterus be responsible for pain inside the vagina during deep penetration? Yes, retroverted uterus is often responsible for pain during deep penetration. The pain appears when the penis touches the uterus. In the missionary position, you can put a pillow under your back (kidney level) in order to avoid that the penis touches the uterus. 5- Is surgery possible when sexual relations are painful because of retroverted uterus? Yes, surgery (uterine suspension) is possible and effective when the pain is only due to a retroverted uterus. 6- I have an ovary cyst. Can it be responsible for pain during deep penetration? Yes, when the cyst is big, it can be responsible for pain during deep penetration. 7- What are the difference between dyspareunia and vaginismus, because in both cases it is a matter of pain during sexual relations? For vaginismus, pain has always existed and the penetration, the more often, has never been possible. Vaginismus is usually of psychological origin. For dyspareunia, the penetration has generally occurred without pain, until one painful time of organic origin. Once the organic cause is treated, a pain (of psychological origin) can persist because of the fear of the pain) and in that case it is a dyspareunia of psychological origin. |
