Answers to common questions about testicles:

Testicles are also known as testes. Part of the male reproductive organs consisting of two oval shaped glands in the scrotum, which produce sperm and the male hormone testosterone. Prior to ejaculation sperm is released from the epididymis which acts as a reservoir of sperm and is added to it to form part of the semen. (See man anatomy)

1- I am 25 years old and when I was 15, someone kicked me in the testicles and since I have an undescended testicle. I am afraid of being sterile. Who should I seek? Help me, please.

A kick received in a testicle can atrophy this one, but cannot prevent it from descending in the scrotum, because if it is not descended it is protected in perinea! Be reassured because only one testicle is enough to allow procreation without problem. I advise you to consult your doctor in order to see what it is exactly of your testicle.

2- Two years ago, I had an operation to remove a dead testicle. Will losing one testicle affect how much semen I produce?

No at all, the ejaculate volume is essentially due to the secretion of prostate, seminal vesicles and other glands. Therefore, your ejaculate volume will remain the same.

3- One of my testicles hangs lower than the other do. Is it normal?

It is normal for one testis to hang lower than the other (usually the left) do. This is primarily due to differences in the vascular anatomical structure on the right and left sides.

4- I have one testis, am I able to become a father or not.

Only one testicle is enough to allow normal fertilization and normal hormonal secretion. So, do not worry, you can become a father with only one testis.

5- My friend told me that we get a better erection when we have big testicles. Is it true?

No, it is wrong, there is no link between the size of the testicles and the erection; expect if there is a complete atrophy of the testicles.

6- Hello, I am a boy of 16 years old. My penis is 12 cm long and my testicles are not big. How can I know if the size of my testicles is going to increased?

You need to wait the end of your puberty. Your penis has already a normal size and I think that your testicles should get a bit bigger. Do not hesitate to seek your doctor if you have any doubt about your physical normality.

7- My right testis is more than twice as big as the left, what could be the reason? It is not painful, just bigger than usual. Moreover, I would like it smaller. What can I do?

If it is truly twice as big, I advice you to have a doctor check it.

8- What is the average testicle size for men?

For adults, each testicle is roughly one-and-a-half inches long and 1 inch large.
