UTERUS: Sexuality, sex and female uterus

The uterus is a hollow muscular organ into which the ovum is received through the fallopian tubes and where it is retained during development and from which the fetus is expelled through the cervix into the vaginal canal. The uterus is a pear-shaped structure, about 3 inches in length, consisting of a fundus body, isthmus and cervix. The uterus is located in a woman's lower abdomen, between the bladder and the rectum. The uterine cavity opens into the uterine tube, and into the vagina below. In women of childbearing age, the inner layer of the uterus (endometrium) goes through a series of monthly changes known as the menstrual cycle. Each month, endometrial tissue grows and thickens in preparation to receive a fertilized egg. Menstruation occurs when this tissue is not used, disintegrates, and passes out through the vagina. The outer layer of the corpus (myometrium) is muscular tissue that expands during pregnancy to hold the growing fetus and contracts during labor to deliver the child. (See female anatomy)

You need to see your gynecologist because several organic causes can be responsible for this pain (fibroma, ovary cyst, retroverted uterus etc...).

2 - Can retroverted uterus be responsible for pain inside the vagina during deep penetration?

Yes, retroverted uterus is often responsible for pain during deep penetration. The pain appears when the penis touches the uterus. In the missionary position, you can put a pillow under your back (kidney level) in order to avoid that the penis touches the uterus.

3- Is surgery possible when sexual relations are painful because of retroverted uterus?

Yes, surgery (uterine suspension) is possible and effective when the pain is only due to a retroverted uterus.

4- During sexual relations with my partner, I often feel pain inside my vagina whatever the position. Do I have a problem? Is his penis too long for my vagina?

This pain inside your vagina might be due to the position of your uterus. You might also have an ovaries problem etc… I advise you to see your gynecologist because this type of pain needs a gynecologic exam in order to find the cause of it.

Yes, this exam is called smear. A cervical smear is designed to look for cancer lesion as well as pre-cancer lesion and it is why it is important to have regular smear.

6- After lasting sexual relation, my vagina often bleed a bit. Is it normal?

No, it is not normal; you need to see your gynecologist for a vaginal and uterine exam.

7- I learn that menstruation comes from uterus, but from which part of the uterus does menstruation really come?
